Rex Bohn is a Sinner
Nothing more fun than watching right wingers tear into each other. This week’s sign was almost as much fun as hearing Trump shower hate against Fox News.
However, I will defend Rex Bohn in this instance on two points.
First, the supervisor is right to support kindness to LGBTQ individuals, just as being kind to anyone else is an admirable trait. Something that is lost on folks like Tyrel Bramwell.
Second, this is the third time Bramwell has used his sign for political purposes, in violation of his church’s status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Breaking the law doesn’t seem to phase Bramwell. Not when you’re doing the lord’s work.
But if there is a lord (spoiler, there isn’t) then Bramwell should be confident that the all-mighty has a handle on it and he’s taking care of the issue in the way that suits him. Bramwell should follow his own scripture:
James 4:11-12
11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.
12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?
Romans 2:1-3
1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.
3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?
Matthew 7:1-5
1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Those three passages are perhaps three of the most clear passages in the entire Bible. To ignore them is to go against the word of God. Seems like Bramwell might want to keep that in mind when he speaks in public and decides what to post on his weekly sign.
