Proposition 3
The proposition 3 that is on the ballot for this November is the shortest worded proposition I can ever remember. This is it in it’s entirety:
First—That Section 7.5 of Article I thereof is repealed.
SEC. 7.5. Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.
Second—That Section 7.5 is added to Article I thereof,to read:
SEC. 7.5. (a) The right to marry is a fundamental right.
(b) This section is in furtherance of both of the following:
(1) The inalienable rights to enjoy life and liberty and to pursue and obtain safety, happiness, and privacy guaranteed by Section 1.
(2) The rights to due process and equal protection guaranteed by Section 7.
That’s it. It’s a technical piece of legislation that replaces one sentence in our state constitution so that it is consistent with current state law.
Only the sick mind of a Christian hung up on controling the happiness of others would lie about it allowing polygamy, incest and child marriage. The proposition does none of that because those are all currently illegal through other sections of law.
But you know where polygamy, incest and child marriage are not only tolerated but encouraged? Yep, that very Bible that Pastor Bramwell preaches from every Sunday.
Polygamy in the Bible
- Abraham – 3 wives (Genesis 25:1, 6 & 1 Chronicles 1:32)
- Jacob – 4 wives (Genesis 31:17)
- David – Many wives and concubines (2 Samuel 5:13)
- Solomon – 700 wives and 300 concubines (1 Kings 11:3)
- Rehoboam – 18 wives and 60 concubines (2 Chronicles 11:21)
- Abijah – 14 wives (2 Chronicles 13:21)
- Lamech – 2 wives (Genesis 4:23)
- Elkanah – 2 wives (1 Samuel 1:2)
- Shaharaim – 2 wives (1 Chronicles 8:8)
- Belshazzar – Many wives (Daniel 5:2)
- Jehoiada – 2 wives (2 Chronicles 24:3)
- Gideon – Many wives (Judges 8:30)
