The one true god
Would that be the one true god the Catholics believe in? Or the Episcopalians, or the Methodists, or the non-denominationals? What about the other Lutheran church, is it their god or St. Marks? I know there are Jews in Ferndale, even though I don’t think we’ve ever had a Jewish church.
Then there’s the Budhists, the Sikhs, the Muslims. You have to also account for the wackier relisions like the Mormons, the Christian Scientists, and the Scientologists.
All completely different in their beliefs, but you won’t find one follower among them that doesn’t believe their god is the one and only true god.
Which to anyone with a smidgen of critical thinking left in their brain presents a conundrum of sorts. They can’t all be right, but of course, they all could be wrong. But what if you’re the type of person that needs the crutch of religion to make it through life? How do you choose?
Typically, it’s not a choice. You were brainwashed into accepting the religion that your parents were brainwashed into by their parents.
But if you wanted to make the safe bet, based on numbers, then you really should choose to be a Muslim, because god has created more of them than any of the other major religions. Seems like if they weren’t the right choice, an all powerful god would have made the instructions clearer that you’re supposed to following that Jesus dude.
The biggest sin of believing in your one true god is that you will go to war with people who believe in a different one true god. Just look at what Israel is doing right now. Murdering innocent children by the thousands and being cheered on by a majority of Christians, because the Jewish god is closer to the Christian god, and the people being murdered are Muslims. Christians are convinced Muslims hate the Christian god, so it’s kind of the enemies of my enemies are my friend axiom.
If there was one true god I could believe in, he wouldn’t have deflected a bullet aimed at a racist, lying, convicted felon and rapist, and aimed it instead at a fire fighter who was trying to protect his two young daughters. I honestly can’t believe that Christians think their one true god would save Trump, but sacrifice a man dedicated to the safety of his family and others.
There is no one true god. But believers prove over and over, that god is an inspiration to truly do evil in this world.
