Beware of the Groomers
In case you haven’t been paying attention, the religious right has a huge obsession with drag shows. Apparently they find it to be the most evil thing ever that men would want to dress up in women’s clothing for entertainment. Among the sins you can commit, it’s right behind allowing people with dark skin into your country, but way ahead of allowing your children to read Harry Potter books.
I find it ironic for the pastor of St. Mark’s to be so concerned about cross-dressing, when he can regularly be seen wearing a dress. To church, no less! Although to be fair, he does know how to accessorize. That purple sash is just stunning!Again I have to point out that this guy seems to go overboard pointing out that he doesn’t like gays. It always seems like those that scream loudest they aren’t doing something, are the ones that will eventually be caught in their own hypocrisy.
Even the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church is aware of that 93% of child abusers are religious.
What better way to groom children than to threaten them with ending up in hell unless they do as you say? Children can easily be brainwashed, as anyone who ever believed in Santa Clause well knows. Most of us eventually figure out that our parents lied to us when our rational brains figure out there is no way in hell that flying reindeer are going to tow a sled stuffed with enough toys to give every kid on the planet a present, and do it all in one night no less. It is ludicrous to believe such a fairytale as an adult.
Yet for some reason, adults find it hard to escape the same type of indoctrination when it comes to religion. It’s not that the religious fairytales are any more believable, because for the most part they are total bullshit. Living inside a whale, saving every species of animal on a small boat, coming back to life after your body starts rotting?
When you try to make sense of all of the religions together, it should be plainly obvious that the whole concept of a god taking care of us and our planet is a myth.
Without pastors grooming young childen, organized religion would have died centuries ago. I have never met anyone who spent as much time selecting their religion as they did purchasing an appliance, a car, or even what to select off a menu at a restaurant. Most likely, if you’re the religious type, you’re following the same religion your parents did, for the same reason they followed the religion of their parents. Generations of grooming.
Due to threats of violence from right wingers who are intolerant of anyone who is not a white Christian nationalist, the drag show had to be cancelled for the safety of the community. This is a shame, but I understand why it was the best action to take.
Our country is being dominated by a minority of people who are ready to toss democracy in favor of facism. More and more they are resorting to violence when their ideas fall flat at the ballot box.
I find it sickening that this pastor then posted a follow-up sign after the venue was forced to cancel.
In the last few weeks, Ferndale and the Eel River Valley have been battered by earthquakes, floods and windstorms. We have a huge homeless problem, with people suffering through this deluge while living in tents or worse.
What is our saviour concerned about? Apparently none of that, as he’s been too busy shutting down harmless entertainment that celebrates the diversity of the very people he supposedly created.
