Child Abuse by the Church
Once again there are so many problems with this week’s sign, I’m not sure where to start.
First off, there’s the lie that the city is affirming child abuse. Pastor Bramwell is falsely accusing the city of being in favor of child abuse.
I’m pretty sure the Bible has something to say about falsely accusations. This one comes to mind:
A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish. – Proverbs 19:9
If only there were a God to punish Pastor Bramwell when he libels the city council.
As most in Ferndale are aware, the city has been trying to pass an anti-hate resolution. When it became obvious that there is a significant number of Ferndalers who are anti anti-hate, it was changed to being a kindness resolution. It takes a special kind of person to translate promoting kindness into affirming child abuse.
Secondly, Pastor Bramwell has again forgotten that as a 501(c)3 organization, he’s not supposed to endorse or oppose political candidates, or lobby for or against legislation. This is his third strike for doing just that.
Thirdly, if you want to talk about child abuse, it is the church that is most affirming in that matter, both sexually and psychologically. The Catholic Church has been fighting a major sex scandal for decades, but they are not the only church caught sexually abusing young boys. The Mormons, Baptists and others have had their own scandals as well.
But the worst child abuse the church does is instilling the belief that there is a God into impressionable minds. If the church wasn’t able to brainwash children into believing the God mythology, religion would die a sudden death. If you happen to be religious, ask yourself, and ask your religious friends, how many of you conscientiously chose your religion, as you would buy a car? Did you read up on the reliability factors, do a few test drives, and then pick the one that was best for your lifestyle, after considering all of the available options? I doubt it. You didn’t pick your religion, it picked you. And now, because you were brainwashed at an early age, you’re stuck.
Making a child believe something so powerful they find it hard to accept the truth, well, that’s child abuse in my book.
