God of Truth
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (usually abbreviated DEI) are organizational frameworks which seek to promote “the fair treatment and full participation of all people”, particularly groups “who have historically been underrepresented or subject to discrimination” on the basis of identity or disability. – Wikipedia
The fair treatment of all people – That seems an odd idea for a so-called Christian to rant against.
Of course if you’re a racist and a bigot, as too many Christians are in this country, it’s reassuring to have your church’s pastor validate what you know is true.
But one thing I know isn’t true is that God is love. If it were true, then Christians wouldn’t be so hung up on hating immigrants, gays, trans, women and just about anyone who isn’t an American white male Christian. Jews wouldn’t be starving and slaughtering Muslims in the Middle East, and it wouldn’t take armies to combat an insane Russian leader who is killing innocent men, women and children by the thousands.
God of Truth is a ridiculous conjunction of words. Which god? Even if you discount the ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman gods, you’re still left with a myriad of choices. First you have to decide whether you’re going to go with one of the mainline choices such as the Jewish, Christian, or Muslim gods. Some people claim the god of those three religions are all the same god, but that can’t be as the truths of those three religions are radically different.
Your choices are further complicated by the fact that besides the big three, there are a number of other religions that boast they are the one true reflection of god’s will.
Even after you’ve made your main choice, let’s say it’s Christianity, you still have some work to do to figure out where the truth lies. Do you side with the inventors of Christianity, the Catholics, or do you select a derivative, such as the Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, or countless other variations?
Ok, so you’ve decided that Lutherans have figured out what the God of Truth is. Fine, we’re getting close, but you still need to figure out what flavor of Lutherism is the truth. Here it gets confusing, because on one side of town you have a Lutheran church that hates gays, and on the other side of town there’s a Lutheran church that includes them and treats them fairly.
On one side of town, the Lutheran church demeans women, and tells them to just shut up and obey their men, while across town the other Lutheran church is actually led by a woman.
Damn that’s confusing. It’s almost like there really isn’t any truth in any of it.
Maybe it’s just better to serve the idols of DEI, you know, do unto others as you would have them do unto you?
